These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data. Where the two overlap on data handling, the Privacy Policy governs.
Curious Paper Books is an independent editorial platform that curates and showcases nonfiction and literary fiction, and directs interested readers to purchase published books through Amazon and other retail platforms. We are not a bookstore, a publisher of record, or a distributor — we do not sell books directly, print books, or hold publishing rights to any book featured here.
Joining the platform as an author is, and always will be, free. We never charge authors for inclusion, editorial review, or continued presence on the Site.
When you submit a book through our submission form, you confirm that:
You retain full ownership and copyright of your work. Submitting a book does not transfer any rights to Curious Paper Books. By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display the book's cover image, title, description, and your author information on the Site and in related promotional material (social media posts, the Journal, email updates), for as long as the book remains featured on the platform. You may request removal at any time by contacting us.
Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Every submission is reviewed editorially against the standards described on our Guidelines page. We may decline a submission at our sole discretion, without being obligated to give a detailed reason, though we aim to give constructive feedback where reasonably possible.
Readers may submit written reviews of featured books. By submitting a review, you confirm it reflects your own genuine opinion and that you have the right to post it. You retain ownership of the text you write; by submitting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish and display it on the relevant book page and in related site features.
We moderate all reviews before publication and reserve the right to reject, edit for length, or remove any review that is spam, abusive, defamatory, contains prohibited content, or otherwise violates these Terms — without obligation to publish every submission.
You must not post content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or that impersonates another person. We cooperate with legal requests where required by applicable law.
You agree not to: attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its underlying systems; submit false, fraudulent, or automated (bot-generated) submissions, reviews, or newsletter signups; scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect data from the Site beyond normal browsing; or use the Site for any unlawful purpose.
We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates this section, and may remove any content submitted in violation of it.
Book pages link out to Amazon and, where available, other retail platforms. These are third-party services with their own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control. Purchases you make through these links are between you and that retailer — Curious Paper Books is not a party to that transaction and is not responsible for order fulfillment, payment processing, shipping, or returns.
Affiliate disclosure: some outbound links to Amazon may be affiliate links. If enabled, we may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases made through those links, at no additional cost to you. This does not influence which books we choose to feature — editorial selection happens independently of any affiliate relationship.
Aside from author-submitted book content and reader-submitted reviews (governed by the sections above), the Site's design, layout, original editorial text (including the Journal), logo, and branding are the property of Curious Paper Books and may not be copied, reproduced, or reused without permission.
The Site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, nor do we guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any book description, review, or third-party link.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory right you may have as a consumer under applicable Italian or EU law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Curious Paper Books shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, reliance on its content, or any transaction conducted with a third-party retailer via a link from the Site.
This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory provisions of Italian or EU consumer-protection law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you also retain the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of your own country of residence. Any dispute not resolved informally will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent Italian courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer venue rights you may have.
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Site or applicable law. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
